What a top day! up at 6 for a sun rise 20 mile bike ride then home clean the van and wait for the tide to drop. Then after lunch I headed to The Dip and after a solo sail yesterday it was nice to see a few already there including Steve Carter, Mark Smalling, Chris Stevens and Ian Clarke :) With lightweight Chris already rigged a 7.5 and Steve about to rig 8.5 I went with 8.5 and the big xantos , it was ideal for most of the session even if it could have been a little windier! I was first out on the water beating a mile out and making it into the River Deben through the wild water at the entrance, always good fun:) As yesterday I had 1200m of flat water but with the tide going out strong against me on the way in I couldn't plan but managed to get to just short of the sailing club where I landed on the beach turned the board and headed back to the green bouy. You could plan with the help of the tide and managed several runs of 25 kts, not bad in the light winds! Chris joined me for a while then after an hour I headed out to sea and had a broad run back but the sea was very rough and lumpy and the wind only just strong enough! After a quick snack I headed back to the River and the tide had eased and the wind picked up a little and I was managing to plan both ways :) I pushed my max up to just over 26 kts and was joined by Chris Phillips and Mark Smalling who just pipped me on top speed!!! For the second day running I have done 50 km and am knackered now - a top top day :)
